These grants were provided to communities with existing capacity, infrastructure, and experience implementing a systematic public health planning process and/or implementing a comprehensive set of evidence-based prevention programs, policies, and practices. The goal of the MassCALL3B grants is to prevent misuse of substances of first use (e.g., alcohol, nicotine, cannabis) among youth.
CSPS and BSAS staff are working to finalize a guidance document to help guide MassCALL3B grantees through the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) planning process. In the interim, feel free to check out the Substance Abuse Prevention Collaborative planning tool that grantees used to guide their planning processes. Much of the information is relevant to your work. It provides an overview of:
- National and state data available to help you understand your local substance misuse problems
- Guidance for using SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based prevention strategies that are culturally appropriate and sustainable.
Users can go directly to relevant areas of the tool, depending on where they are in the SPF process. Related tools, templates, and worksheets are also organized on a single page—easy to download and share at your next coalition meeting!
